First Communion

In Baptism, parents promise to bring their children to the Word of God and the Holy Supper, to teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, to place in their hands the Holy Scriptures, and to nurture them in faith and prayer, so that their children may learn to trust God.

Each Spring we provide children and their parents Holy Communion classes, where they have the opportunity to learn about the meaning and history of Holy Communion. Included in these classes are a Seder experience, the opportunity to make bread, and create their own Communion Banner. Typically, these classes are for children in 2nd-5th grade, but children younger or older are also invited to participate.
